Lang Lang at the Royal Albert Hall
Lang Lang delivered two memorable performances on his much-anticipated return to the Royal Albert Hall in November 2013. Set-up as international co-production of BFMI, ZDF/3sat and Sony Classical / Sony Corp, this recording of the pianist superstar is a native 4K production. Besides that: London, you never cease to amaze!

Heralded as the “hottest artist on the classical music planet” by The New York Times, Lang Lang showcased his extraordinary abilities at the intimate in-the-round concerts.

The first half of the programme was dedicated to Mozart (Sonatas No. 5 in G major, K283, No. 4 in E flat major, K282, and No. 8 in A minor, K310); the second half followed with Chopin’s Four Ballades. Lang Lang has proved himself to be a masterful pianist numerous times before, but in this recital he sent the audience into raptures with true showmanship qualities, giving seven encores after the quite exhausting programme. George Hall, writing in his Guardian review commented “Lang Lang’s two-part programme of Mozart and Chopin pieces contained some instances of jaw-dropping virtuosity”.

Film Premiere "The Highest Level"
Kino International Berlin, Oct. 16
THE HIGHEST LEVEL follows the production of a CD at the highest artistic level with performances by Lang Lang, conductor Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Earlier this year, the Berlin Philharmonic, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, together with Lang Lang, performed two of the most difficult compositions for piano and orchestra: Piano Concerto No. 2 by Bela Bartok and Piano Concerto No. 3 by Sergei Prokofiev.
The film, directed by Christian Berger, provides the viewer with an exclusive glimpse into the recording sessions as well as the preparations and the attempts to achieve the best musical quality.

Donna Leon’s Venice
A Musical Walk with Joyce DiDonato
The American best-seller writer Donna Leon guides the viewers to the most beautiful venues of her Italian adopted city on the trail of baroque music. She proves to be a captivating story-teller and a fascinating connoisseur of Handel and Vivaldi.
As Donna Leon is very passionate about music, she is truly delighted to meet the celebrated mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, who is accompanied by the ensemble Il Pomo d’Oro.
