The film depicts a recording session at the highest possible artistic level. The viewer gets insight into a process that is usually in the hiding; super stars of the classical music world are recording at the Philharmonie Berlin, struggling for the perfect sound: during the preparing, the recording and the post-production.

It is a very intimate encounter with the protagonists: Lang Lang and Sir Simon Rattle, who is conduction the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, plus the recording engineers. The goal is to preserve Béla Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 2 and Sergei Prokoviev’s Piano Concerto No. 3. Will they succeed in working on a new convincing interpretation of these well-known and complex masterpieces within four days only?
